Europe taking latest terror warning seriously. State dept warns US travellers.  Americans living in or visiting the continent have been told to take security precautions.

This advice is one step below the formal warning recommending no travel at all.

Following the US move, Britain upgraded its travel advice for Europe.

The Foreign Office said there was a “high threat” of attacks in countries including France and Germany, rather than the “general threat” previously identified.

It follows intelligence indicating al Qaeda terrorists are planning to launch simultaneous Mumbai-style attacks in the UK, France and Germany.

“Terrorists may elect to use a variety of means and weapons and target both official and private interests,” the US State Department said in its alert.

“US citizens are reminded of the potential for terrorists to attack public transportation systems and other tourist infrastructure.  (Read More).

Doesn’t the ground Zero mosque look kinda cool?  The sketches showed a 16-storey building wrapped in a honeycomb of abstract shapes.

The building was compared by some to the Fortress of Solitude, the crystalline headquarters of Superman depicted in comic books.

Sharif El-Gamal, the developer, said: “We want to have a marriage between Islamic architecture and New York City. We want to do something that is green and cool.”

The proposed Islamic centre, two blocks from the site of the World Trade Centre attacks, has created widespread controversy in the United States. (Read More).
